Paper I – General Paper (will be provided in 7 volumes)

Paper II

About Joint UGC Test for Junior Research Fellowship & Lecturership
The UGC (NET) Humanities is conducted by the University Grants Commission. The UGC(NET) Test will determine the eligibility of Indian National candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and for appointment of Lecturers in Universities and colleges in the subjects falling in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Forensic Science, Environmental Sciences, Computer Science and Application and Electronic Science. The UGC (NET) Humanities Test comprises of 2 papers. UGC conducts NET twice a year i.e. in the month of June and December.

i) Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) (50% marks for SC/ST/PH/VH) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination in Humanities (including languages) and Social Sciences, Computer Applications, Electronic Sciences etc. are eligible for this test.

(ii) Candidates who are in the final year or have appeared for Master’s degree or equivalent examination can also apply for the test. However, such candidates will be considered eligible for JRF/LS only after they have passed the Master’s Degree examination or equivalent with atleast 55% (50% marks for SC/ST/PH/VH) marks. These candidates must complete their P.G. degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.

(iii) The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination were completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for relaxation of 5% of marks(i.e. from 55% to 50%) to appear in NET Examination.

(iv) Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their Post Graduation only. The candidates whose PG subjects is not covered in the list of subjects provided by UGC, may appear in the subject related to the one they had at PG.

Age Limit : The upper age limit for being eligible for the test is as under :

(a) For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Candidate should not be more than 30 years for December / June Exam of the corresponding year, relaxable upto 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PH/VH and women applicants. Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant/related subject of post-graduation degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from appropriate authority. Three years relaxation in age will be permissible to the candidates possessing L.L.M. Degree.

(b) For Lecturership: There is no upper age limit.

The Test will consist of two papers.

Paper I will consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions of two mark each. The paper shall be of general nature intended to assess the teaching / research aptitude of the candidate. It is designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension and divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. evaluated. Total Marks of Paper I will be 100.

Paper II will consist of 100 objective type questions, of 2 marks each, all of which are compulsory, based on the subject selected by the candidate. Total Marks of Paper II will be 200.

All the questions of Paper II will be compulsory, without any options

The final qualifying criteria for Junior Research Fellowship(JRF) and eligibility for Lecturership shall be decided by UGC before declaration of result.

The test will consist of two Papers of only objective type questions and will be held on the day of Examination in two separate sessions as under:

Candidates qualifying for the award of Junior Research Fellowships will be eligible to receive fellowship under various schemes subject to finding their placement in the University / IITs / Other National Organisations.

The validity of the offer is two year w.e.f. the date of issue of JRF award letter. However, in case the candidate has already joined M.Phil / Ph.D., the date of commencement of fellowship will be from the date of declaration of examination result or date of joining, whichever is later.
